Winter Essentials

You may have seen my first Winter Essentials post last month featuring the fur collared leather jacket (back when the temperatures were a tad higher, sniff, I miss my Oakley sunglasses), but this time it’s all about the wool coat and the platform boots. I’m an absolute sucker for a coat – to me, they complete an outfit in winter as they are the first thing anyone is going to see of your outfit, so colour co-ordination is a must (which is my excuse for having a good 20+ coats…).

Keeping colourful during the winter months is tough going, so opting for deep, autumnal colours can keep your winter wardrobe a little brighter than usual and give you more to work with to create a versatile capsule wardrobe with a little more option than our fail-safe black pieces.

Talking of winter, it means it’s time to unleash my complete fav staple of the winter months – knitwear! Co-ordinating your knitwear this season has been one of my favourite trends, so styling up this knitted skirt again was pretty inevitable. It’s getting colder than ever now here in the North, so layering knitwear over the next month or so is going to be essential and there are so many amazing pieces on the high street right now to make it super easy for you.

To keep it comfy, I opted for an oversized, thick roll-neck layered over a chunky knit bodycon skirt and styled with trainers – which could easily be worn with tights and boots for that extra bit of warmth. Other pieces popular in stores right now are the knitted culottes and knitted flares, which look amazing with split sided chunky knits for the extra cool-girl vibe. I’ll definitely be making the most out of this cozy trend before Spring finally makes its long-anticipated return.

So, whilst we wish our lives away waiting for the warmer weather, let’s just try and enjoy the dressing opportunities we have in this…season.
